The challenge

The CNOP is the national body regulating the pharmacy profession in the Democratic Republic of Congo: 3,800 pharmacists, accredited pharmacies across all 26 provinces, and a public-health mandate reaching more than 100 million citizens. Its operations ran on manual registers and an aging website — registrations and renewals required physical paperwork in Kinshasa, no one could verify whether a pharmacy was legitimately licensed, and the Order had no real-time view of its own profession.

Our solution

In six weeks we designed and delivered a complete digital ecosystem at ordredespharmaciens.cd: online pharmacist registration and licence renewal, a member portal secured with multi-factor authentication, a continuing-education platform, the national medicines laboratory (LNME) services, and a public, searchable map of every accredited pharmacy, geolocated with PostGIS. Because connectivity in the DRC is uneven, the frontend is a progressive web app that keeps working offline. Everything runs on AWS — Fargate containers, managed PostgreSQL, OpenSearch for instant lookups — fully defined in code and deliberately cost-optimized for an institutional budget.

Results

A regulator that ran on paper now has a living digital registry: 3,800 pharmacists, 120 accredited pharmacies, 26 provinces — searchable by any citizen who wants to check that their pharmacy is in good standing. The Order manages registration, training, and medicines expertise from a single platform, and steers the profession with real-time data.

This platform brings the Order into a new era. Every pharmacist in the Republic can now register, train, and be visible — and every citizen can verify that their pharmacy is in good standing. It is as much a public-health instrument as a governance one.
